Bite Wrap bit tape – application, fit and safety

Bite Wrap is a flexible tape used to change the surface feel of a bit or temporarily cover a worn area. Applying it changes the mouthpiece’s thickness, texture and possibly its flexibility, so the fit must be checked again after wrapping.

Before application

  • Clean and dry the bit.
  • Inspect the mouthpiece for sharp edges or structural damage.
  • Never use tape to conceal a cracked or unsafe bit.

How to apply

  1. Begin at one end of the area to be covered.
  2. Stretch the tape evenly and overlap each turn consistently.
  3. Keep the surface smooth, without ridges or loose edges.
  4. Secure the final section according to the product instructions.
  5. Check the completed diameter and fit before use.

Inspection and replacement

Inspect the wrap before and after every use. Replace it if it loosens, develops sharp edges, becomes unhygienic or shows significant wear. Never leave loose material where the horse could chew or swallow it.

Important

Wrapping changes the bit’s dimensions and cannot make an unsuitable bit suitable. Stop using it if the horse shows discomfort.
