What is a D-ring snaffle?
The fixed cheeks are shaped like a D. The straight outer edge provides more lateral surface than a round ring and helps keep the mouthpiece centred.
Action and selection
During a leading rein aid, the opposite ring may support the corner of the mouth. The D-ring alone does not create the leverage associated with shanks and a curb chain.
