The bit is good but would have been even better if the rod was a little bigger. Size 12.5 is probably right but compared to other bits of the same size it is a bit smaller. I would have liked it to be 2-3mm longer.– Linda
Description
Combines snaffle and curb in one bit. Upper rein as snaffle, lower with leverage through the shanks. Can be ridden with a pelham strap for one pair of reins. More frame and control. Needs a steady hand. Common in eventing.
Two hinge points with a centre link distributing pressure more evenly. Doesn't reach the palate. Milder than single jointed, independent action on each side. Suits horses with a low palate, thick tongue or sensitive mouth. The most common choice for a gentle bit.
Produces a sweet taste that encourages chewing and salivation. The surface turns blue-black over time, that's normal. Wipe after use, store dry.
